Mexico City — A teacher and his partner were arrested in a violent confrontation at a school in the central state of Veracruz on Saturday, local media reported.
Police said that 43-year-old teacher Jose Antonio de la Vega, his partner and two students were involved in an altercation with an unidentified person at the Estación de la Educación Jose Antonio Guerrero in Veracrol, a city of about 10 million people.
A report said that the teacher was beaten by two students and had his teeth knocked out, while his partner was hit by a brick, and the student was struck in the face with a brick.
The teacher and the partner are also accused of assaulting a woman who was in the school when the incident occurred.
The two students, identified as 24-yearold and 22-year old, were not injured, local TV network Televisa reported.
The Veraculanos reported that the victim, identified only as Carmen, told police that the couple had been in the classroom for more than a year and that the situation escalated during the school year.
The couple were detained and will be interrogated in the coming days, the Veracolans reported.
